Weighing up the Costs of the AR

When I first started Dr Aron’s treatment, I was kind of shocked by the price but was lucky enough that my parents, seeing my dismay, offered to pay the £100 consultation fee.
My compound, mixed at Landy’s chemist in London, cost me £60 for 590g including P&P. This is more than I’ve ever spent for a cream in one go, so I was hesitant to start the treatment in case I couldn’t afford to keep it up.
When the compound arrived, spread across 2 pots (which is extremely handy because I can have one at home and one in the office without risking a panic attack if one goes missing), I was worried that covering most of my body with the cream 5 times a day would mean they would last no longer than 2 weeks, costing at least £120 a month.
In reality, the cream goes a very long way, and 3 weeks in I have at least 200g left.
Let’s compare this to what I was using before…
By the time I heard about Dr Aron I’d managed to wean myself off Protopic using a wonderful emollient called Lipobase. It was somehow keeping my condition at bay but in no way was it improving it. It only comes in 50g tubes in the UK costing £2.65, and I was using a whole tube every day.lipobase
So for a month, just keeping my skin from getting worse was costing me £79.50. Nowadays, Dr Aron is helping my skin improve whilst also saving me around £20.
Add this to the hundreds – possibly thousands – of pounds worth of medications and creams that have been tried and found lacking in the past. Here is a collection of just the ones that I haven’t bothered to throw away yet:imageThat’s a lorra dolla!

Update: 18 months in, now that I get my compound through the NHS at £24 a pot, and each pot lasts up to 3 months, I'm spending less than £100 a year on treatment. Crazy cheap!
